Live.Awake: Change Change Change

I was really struck by your sentence about boxes - being able to get out of old boxes you had yourself in or other's had you in. There's a comfort and frustration in our "identity". I experienced this when we moved to Winston Salem back in 2002. Lots of people in Boone knew me as a musician and a worship leader. Suddenly no one knew me. It was a jolt to my identity - I was out of my box. I ended up in a couple of other boxes: my career box and my being a daddy box. Now we've moved to Sanford and I'm readjusting again. Ultimately, God wants me to find my identity primarily in Him. I think of Jesus' words in John 15: "remain in Me", "abide in me", "let My words remain in you".
Also, I wonder if you brought up the whole "box" thing because you're surrounded by boxes full of all your stuff. It's a great feeling when you get all your boxes unpacked. Maybe there's a sermon idea in that for Ben!
Finally, the best dentist and pediatrician in the world are now very close to where you live. We miss them a lot!
    God bless you!

It is pretty funny how the packing and unpacking of cardboard boxes so often correlates to the "unpacking" of our own soul's boxes.

Well it is so interesting first to find some people from my home state filtered through a website of a friend in Florida. Good luck to you on the move to Kernersville, I know that you will love the area. And to the guy from Boone, GO APP STATE and what a beautiful place Winston is.

To your idea of being trapped inside of your boxes, it is totally true that we all are surrounded by the boxes of our lives. When we have to change into a new box or move your current boxes to a new place it is very difficult. Me and my wife moved to Florida after living in Boone while we were going to school. And to first move from the school life to the work life , then moving from the dating to being married, man was that turmoil to adjust to the new boxes in your life. But through it all I think that we should keep all of our boxes inside the big box of God then we should not have a difficult time adjusting.

Keep God close and I know that all will work out for you no matter where you move or what changes you have in your life.

Chip: "Also, I wonder if you brought up the whole “box” thing because you’re surrounded by boxes full of all your stuff" LOL!! How true!

I am very resistant to change, and each time I've had to make a drastic change, God has had to make me VERY uncomfortable where I am! I am in the midst of a big change with one of the ministries I'm involved in. It's a great change, but God had to really make me squirm in the existing situation.

I hope you guys get settled in smoothly.
